Workshop ThreeSTRATEGIC ADVANTAGE IN THE POST INDUSTRIAL AGE24 March 2010Incisive Media Training Suite, London W1
We have become very used to the hierarchical, command and control organisation that predominates in the corporate world but is it the most effective way to develop and deliver products and services in the networked age? With innovation, production, marketing and distribution all being radically affected by the web we will need to keep ahead of what will be significant shifts in how we do things. Even our regulatory and political environment is already changing and like it or not anyone with a web site is effectively in a global market. This session will look at the bigger picture, consider the shifts already happening in the world of work and try to anticipate some of those that are headed our way in the future.
What will I get out of it?You will leave this session with a much clearer idea of where you and your business fit in the networked world. - You will not only understand the nature of the changes likely to happen to the world of work but also be excited at your part in these changes. - You will understand how to gain competitive advantage and stay ahead of your competition by embracing change and making the most of emerging opportunities. - You will know how to build effective and dynamic organisations of the future.
Workshop Programme
The future "The future is already here - it is just unevenly distributed" - William Gibson. This session will explore some of the more radical things already happening in the world of technology, business and work. We will build on those examples and try to anticipate the likely change we can expect to see happening in the next ten to twenty years and how we will deal with that change. Societal change Culture and society are already changing with the impact of the web. People are able to connect and rub shoulders virtually with others from any country and any background but does this mean we all become global citizens? If the nation state isn't our natural source of identity what will be? What will be our tribe - or tribes - and how will we relate to them? Global platforms Anyone with a web site is effectively in a global market and their products and services visible, if not available, all around the world. Even small firms can punch above their weight and their passion and nimbleness can give them huge advantages. How do you position yourselves as a company in the connected world? How do you distinguish yourselves amidst all the voices? Competitive advantage This session will look at what is likely to keep you ahead of the competition. What are the characteristics of organisations most likely to capitalise on the changes we are seeing and how do you make sure you are one of them? What would Google do? This session will take a look at the characteristics of Google that have made them so successful and discuss how applicable they might be to your business. Collaborative strategy This session will look at strategy in the future. How do you develop strategies when the world is changing ever faster? How do you harness the collective intelligence of your people to achieve better, more accurate strategic decisions? Global legislation This session will look at some of the legal issues raised by the online and global nature of our future work. How we produce legislation will change and how we interpret and apply that legislation will be different in the future. Changing organisational structures This session will explore possible future models for how we organise and structure ourselves to ensure we are in a position to make the most effective use of our skills and capabilities. Leading in the wired world Many of the skills of leadership change little from generation to generation but some of our assumptions about what it takes to lead will be challenged over the next few years. Moving from control to influence how do we motivate and get things to happen in increasingly complex worlds? What sort of characteristics will we expect from leaders in the future and how do we encourage and develop those skills? ========================================================== LOCATION: All workshops take place in the Incisive Media Training Suite at 32-34 Broadwick Street, London, W1A 2HG
